Just a word about our Market, it’s run by a wonderful group of volunteers who are not only an important part of the community but an important part of the Lumby Public Market Society. That’s right, we’re a society, have been since 2010. The purposes of the Society are to a) provide a platform for the marketing and sale of locally produced craft, produce and other items; and b) support the local community. Essentially, we provide a place for anyone with a great idea and a great product, whether from farm, field or Village, to set up shop at a reasonable price. (the Society is essentially non-profit with any money collected in fees going to support the ongoing operations of the Market – advertising, insurance. business license, web page maintenance, office needs, etc.; and put back into the community through our yearly charitable donations.)
We had a great time at the Lumby Chamber of Commerce Trade Show; got to talk with lots of people – gee there’s a lot of new individuals and families in the Village! And, we made contacts with exciting prospective vendors for the Saturday Public Market. Congratulations to Christine who won our draw for Watkins products.
Anticipating a really good Market season this year, especially with the big Canada Day celebration being planned for the Village, and, of course, the 3rd Annual Butter Tart Festival.
